Porcelain Veneers in Horsham, PA

Porcelain veneers are often the superstar of cosmetic dentistry. These thin shells of porcelain are bonded to the front surface of your teeth to transform their appearance. With veneers, we can change a tooth’s color, shape, size, or even slight position – essentially creating a new front surface for your smile. If you’ve ever envied those perfect “Hollywood smiles,” chances are veneers played a role. At Horsham Dental Care, we offer high-quality porcelain veneers for patients who want a dramatic yet natural-looking improvement in their smile. Dr. Aarti Lala, with her cosmetic dentistry expertise, will work closely with you to design the smile you desire, while Dr. Mathews ensures the function and health aspects are all in line.

What issues can veneers fix?

  • Deep Stains or Discoloration: Teeth that are intrinsically discolored (from antibiotics like tetracycline, fluorosis, or large fillings) and don’t respond to whitening can be masked with veneers. Porcelain is incredibly stain-resistant and can provide a permanent bright shade.
  • Chips and Worn Edges: Minor chips, cracks, or wear on the enamel can be covered. Veneers can make teeth look whole and youthful again.
  • Mild Misalignment or Gaps: If your teeth are slightly crooked or have small gaps, veneers can be an alternative to orthodontics. By shaping the veneers, we can create an illusion of straightness and close small spaces (this is sometimes called “instant orthodontics”). Note: for significant misalignment, we might recommend Invisalign first, then veneers for best results.
  • Uneven or Misshapen Teeth: Teeth that are too short, pointed, or otherwise oddly shaped can be redesigned with veneers to match the rest of your smile.
  • Enamel Defects: Some people have pitted or grooved enamel, or enamel that’s worn down from acid or grinding; veneers cover that with a smooth, intact surface.

Veneer process: Typically it takes two visits after the initial consultation/planning. In the first veneer prep visit, we shape the teeth slightly by removing a thin layer of enamel – usually about 0.3 to 0.5 millimeters (roughly the thickness of a fingernail). This is done to make room for the veneer so the tooth doesn’t end up bulky, and to ensure the veneer can bond securely. We numb the area to make this comfortable. Molds (impressions) are taken of the prepared teeth, and we place temporary veneers on your teeth for protection and aesthetics while the lab creates your final veneers.

The temporaries give you a “preview” of sorts. We can adjust them if needed and use that information for the final design. The lab then crafts the custom veneers from high-quality dental porcelain, matching the shade we selected together. Porcelain mimics the translucency and luster of natural teeth, so well-made veneers are virtually indistinguishable from real enamel.

On the second visit (about 2 weeks later), we remove the temps and try in the porcelain veneers. Dr. Lala or Dr. Mathews will place each veneer and check its fit, color, and shape. We show you as well – this is your new smile, so we want you to love it. Adjustments in shade can sometimes be made by tweaking the cement color. Once you give the go-ahead, we meticulously bond the veneers to your teeth using a resin cement that’s hardened with a curing light. We make any final polish or bite adjustments, and voila – your smile is reborn!

Caring for veneers: Porcelain veneers are strong, but you should care for them like natural teeth (good brushing, flossing, avoiding chewing ice or very hard objects with the front teeth). With proper care, veneers can last 10-15 years or more. We might recommend a nightguard if you grind your teeth at night, to protect your new smile. Regular check-ups are important; we’ll ensure your gums stay healthy around the veneers and that everything remains secure.

Patients from Horsham and Ambler who have gotten veneers with us often say they wish they’d done it sooner. The boost in confidence is incredible when you’re no longer worried about people noticing stains or gaps – instead, you can’t wait to show off your smile. Porcelain veneers are a truly transformative option. If you’ve been considering a big change in your smile’s appearance, schedule a cosmetic consultation at Horsham Dental Care. Dr. Lala will listen to your goals and show you how veneers (perhaps combined with other treatments like whitening or contouring) can give you the stunning, yet still you, smile you’ve always wanted.
