Getting dentures typically involves a few appointments, and we make the journey smooth and enjoyable:
Comprehensive Evaluation: We start with a thorough exam of your gums, any remaining teeth, and bone structure. If you need any extractions of compromised teeth before getting a denture, we can perform those with gentle care (and sedation options if desired). We’ll make sure your mouth is healthy and ready.
Custom Impressions & Measurements: Next, we take impressions of your gums and any teeth using precise dental molds or a digital scanner. We also record your bite and the alignment between your jaws. These measurements are critical for a well-fitting denture. We consider details like how your lips and cheeks will be supported. Our team works closely with a high-quality dental lab to fabricate your denture base and select the right size, shape, and color of teeth.
Try-In and Adjustments: Before the final denture is made, you’ll have a “wax try-in.” This is a preliminary version of your denture with the teeth set in wax. You’ll get to preview how your new smile will look and we can assess the fit. This step allows adjustments to tooth positioning or bite alignment before the denture is finalized. Delivery of Your Denture: Once everything looks perfect, the lab will process your final denture and we’ll seat it in your mouth. Expect a period of adjustment as you get used to speaking and eating with dentures – this is normal! We schedule a follow-up a week or two later to make any necessary tweaks for comfort.
